The Floating Bed

A sense of levitating inspired cabinet maker Axel Wannberg to design The Floating Bed – a distinct bedroom piece in massive Douglas fir, in which the tree’s unique qualities are in focus. With a height of 60 meters, the Douglas fir is a grand tree with characteristic features. Thanks to the size of the tree, wide planks can be measured in one piece. Each log, at times also including wood knots, is used in order to minimize any remnants in production.

Wannberg’s artisanal focus works beyond mass production and industry design. The imperfections of each material are embraced, resulting in a series of furniture among which no piece is like the other.
